Chappell’s were founded in 1810 by Samuel Chappell in partnership with Francis Tatton Latour and John Baptist Cramer. The firm’s premises included large showrooms for pianos and other musical instruments and sheet music on several floors. The firm’s reputation grew fast, and in 1819 Beethoven wrote to a colleague regarding a piece that he wished to publish, “that Chappell in Bond Street is now one of the best publishers.” On the death of Samuel, his eldest son William took over. When he left, his younger brother Thomas took charge. They were publishers of music and concert promoters and started manufacturing pianos in the 1840s.
- During the 20th century, Chappell became one of the leading music publishers and piano manufacturers in Britain and were well made with good tone and touch. Our Chappell piano is one of the last pianos built in England. It has been well looked after with only a few minor blemishes befitting its age.
- It benefits from having the renowned Schwander action which makes it easy to play and the tone produced is rich and warm. The design of the piano is simple modern elegance and its compact size (height 110cm, length 135cm, depth 52cm) will fit into most homes.
We are offering this piano to buy or as a rent to buy piano. It is for sale at £1050 which includes delivery to a ground floor room and first tuning is free of charge. This piano will also come with a free adjustable stool and has a 3 year warranty.
